Camp Years 1940s - 1960s
I was homesick the first time I went to camp at Pinetree. I had won a week at
camp as a prize for a demonstration on redecorating my bedroom. I remember
being taken up to the Cliff House when it was an old farmhouse for some milk
and cookies and a pep talk. Don’t recall much else, other than coming home with
a wooden footstool I’d made with Mrs. Workman. Still have it!
Came back as a junior counselor the next year and for quite a few years after
that as a senior counselor. What I remember as a typical day–Alice Sullivan
blew reveille at 7AM, flag raising was at 8 (once or twice with undergarments
attached) and then breakfast.
